My year so far, 2017 Edition

At the start of 2017 I wrote this post, about what I wanted to do this rather, or stop doing this year. I thought I would give a so far so good?! So I thought I would give a little review of whether I’ve managed to make the changes, but also give you a little catch up on what’s going on in my life.

Resolutions:

Here are my resolutions for the start of the year and how I think I’ve been doing in regards to them because how doesn’t love a good update version of the year so far!

Leaving things until the last minute:

I made more of an effort doing this with my university work. Especially on my dissertation. I was determined to get it done early. Making sure I had enough time to look it many times before hand. I’ve certainly made sure that with things such as blogs are done over a while rather than at midnight the night before I post it.

Eat whatever whenever:

I’ve certainly started planning what I’m eating a lot more and I think that is partly due to when I was at work. There was a lot more structure to my days for planning and knowing what I was eating. Since doing this more, I have lost 2 stone. Yes I was ill for a week but 2 stone is 2 stone. I feel damn good about it as well!

Stop skipping breakfast:

I have fallen in love with cereal all over again! I can certainly tell throughout the day when I have and haven’t had breakfast. Again this links with planning what I’m eating and losing weight. All of it being successful together! I’ve also managed to start getting up earlier regularly meaning breakfast is a normal time rather than at lunch time.

Screen time:

If I’m being completely honest, I don’t think I’ve been successful with this one. I did cut down a lot whilst I was working and spending 8 hours a day in front of screen. However; it’s gone up a lot again recently. I’ve been spending a lot of time on my laptop recently whilst applying for jobs. I’ve also currently fallen back in love with Sims 4 as well! I kinda of feel like I don’t have much else to do at the minute so laptop time it is.

Being Lazy:

Summer is completely different to autumn and winter, because I want to be so much more active. I have plans throughout the nights, the only nights I have off are Wednesday and I have been taking full advantage of being lazy on a Wednesday and flopping out on the bed with my laptop in toe. The weekends as well are active, of me being out of the house and walking, or running around a cricket pitch or something!

Last minute pictures:

I will completely admit that this is something I haven’t done. The number of posts i’ve written so far this year with a random picture attached is about the same.  Most of the time I don’t really know what will go with the posts. My latest post, for example; what do I put with a post about endings. What is there for me to add, so I think random pictures do go with posts like that. Bigger posts are different, when I’ve planned post or I’m doing a playlists are easier to get a picture for. I have done in that aspect of planned posts but not so much in the brain dump posts. (See random picture for this post because always!).

What have I been up to lately?

I thought I would also give you an update with what has been going on in my life general. In case you don’t follow me on twitter or Instagram – which you totally should do (shameless self-promo). I have moved home to Hull and back in with my mum. Let’s rewind to the start of the year.

I’ve finished University, carried on playing rugby, finished my dissertation after so many long nights of inputting data in my computer and typing out endless words again and again. I then had a fab time at Varsity, and finished University with dance and gymnastics exams and more essays before heading straight into the world of Full Time work. I was working in a job that I actually really enjoyed, it was something different to anything I’d done before. It was something challenging and I found myself develop within the job quite well! Then I got ill, I got a stomach bug and between Monday and Thursday I hadn’t managed to keep down any food and then by Friday at 6pm I had received information that my contract had been ended because of the time off work I had, had. Obviously it was disappointing and landed me back at square one searching for jobs, and getting interview after interview and not hearing anything about any of the jobs.

I’ve now moved back home, looking for work in Hull and different jobs, basically anything that is going. It’s easier to get a job if you are in a job and all that. So that is currently what is going on, and I am officially back in the north!

Have you been sticking to your New Years’ resolutions?! Let me know down in the comments!
